As an integrative counsellor I work with ideas from both humanistic and psychodynamic approaches. This means we might work using ideas that focus on the here and now or how unconscious, past experiences and feelings might contribute to difficulties in the present. I also draw upon Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) that helps manage problems by changing unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving.
As well as talking therapy I also offer more creative ways to work. I find this works really well with all clients but informs how I mostly work with children and young people. This includes arts, crafts and sand tray work using objects that helps you connect to and begin to understand your thoughts and feelings.
I have experience of working face to face and online with young people and adults and can adapt sessions that best suits you.
My experience
I have a particular interest in working with children and young people and have a range of experience working with this age group in a variety of settings. This includes providing 1:1 support and group work sessions in secondary education in a Special Educational Needs school and as volunteer mentor for primary aged children. Additionally, I have worked in an alternative provision for young people excluded from mainstream school and as a safeguarding lead.
Additional CPD Training:
I am a registered member of the BACP and as part of my ethcial commitment to safe practice I stay up to date with regular CPD’s and relevant training.
I hold two enhanced DBS certificates, one for working with adults and one for working with children and young people.
